This educational leadership adventure trip will help you become part of the local scene and experience friendly Tico culture. You'll jump right back into Spanish lessons at our Spanish School; you'll also spend some time visiting different small rural villages around Turrialba as you develop your leadership skills. The group will take daily expeditions to different villages for great afternoons of fun and service.

Day 1: San Jose / Turrialba
Land in San José, meet your Edu tours leader and head to Turrialba before meeting your new host family, spend the first night meeting new friends from your program. Good luck and enjoy your stay in beautiful Costa Rica!
Day 2: Spanish School
Wake up early and have your first breakfast with your family in beautiful Turrialba. Turri (as it is called by the locals) today you will meet the director of the Spanish school and complete placement tests to determine your level of Spanish. Afterwards, have lunch and get ready for your first adventure. The evening will be spent getting to know your family and practicing conversational Spanish skills.
Day 3 - 4: Spanish School / Leadership Camp
Students will begin the regular morning schedule of breakfast with their families followed by Spanish school from 8:00am - 12:30 pm. The group will reunite for lunch at a local restaurant before setting off for an afternoon of leadership through soccer in a small rural village around Turrialba. Over the course of the week, students are likely to do service work which consists of a half a day camp that you will put together for local 8-12 year old children. You'll run different activities such as arts & crafts, songs, and outdoor and indoor games that are all focused on the favorite pastime of this country: soccer!
Day 5: Spanish School / Adventure Activities
Students will continue with the regular morning schedule of breakfast with their families followed by four hours of classroom instruction. After lunch at a local restaurant, students will visit the local market and stroll through downtown to get more acquainted with local places and culture. Later in the evening, you will get your first dose of Latin dance moves with a local dance teacher. Afterwards, return home to show your new dance moves to your host family.
Day 6: Rafting the Pacuare River
After breakfast with your host family, take a break from class and the soccer camp and join the group on an exciting rafting adventure. Spend the day cruising down the white-water rapids of the world-famous Pacuare River. Take in the green scenery, the wonderful canyons, and Costa Rica's plethora of wildlife. Then have a delicious lunch with your rafting guides as you share stories from your adventure.
Day 7 - 9: Spanish School / Leadership Camp
Begin the regular morning schedule of breakfast with your host family followed by Spanish school from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch at a local restaurant before setting off for an afternoon activity. Activities may include canyoning, hiking to a beautiful nearby waterfall, white water inflatable kayaks, horseback riding, and mountain biking. Over the course of the week program, you are likely to experience most if not all of these activities.
Day 10: La Leona
Your adventures have been numerous and thrilling, but it is now time for you to return home. Pura vida!
